Shortfilm LOVE LETTER (Body) / Berlin Shortlist

In the heart of Montreal, a vibrant community thrives, finding solace and strength within the embrace of Our Colourful Yoga (OCY).

Shortlist of the Berlin Commercial 2024 Personal Work – Cultural Impact.

Love Letter (body)» is a captivating short film that celebrates the transformative power of representation and belonging within Montreal’s BIPOC community as they find sanctuary in Our Colourful Yoga, weaving together intimate storytelling, poetic visuals, and a rich musical score to ignite a fervent call for inclusivity and empowerment in wellness spaces worldwide.

A humble tribute to our bodies as they are, to our sense of community and belonging, to courage and identity

Love Letter (body) is a two-minute piece poignant testament to the transformative power of representation and belonging, particularly for BIPOC individuals embracing yoga and meditation. As the film unfolds, viewers are invited into a world where bodies become vessels of courage, and belonging is a tangible reality. Through its intimate storytelling and poetic visuals, the short film beautifully encapsulates the essence of OCY, where every breath is a celebration of self, and every movement is a dance of belonging.

It is the debut project of CoCreatur_s collective, founded by Colombian semi-nomadic film director Pilar Zapata, aiming to spark intimate conversations and unite diverse cultures. Collaborating with Alba Gil, a talented director from Mexico, they highlight the BIPOC community’s voice, making wellness needs visible.  To enrich this creative exploration, Leandro Lacerna, a distinguished music composer and producer from Mendoza, Argentina, was invited to contribute. Lacerna’s exquisitely crafted score plays a pivotal role in the film, seamlessly blending elements inspired by Radiohead and movie soundtracks with Latin American folkloric roots. His music, infused with the vibrant sounds of Colombia Pulla music, imbues the narrative with echoes of Zapata’s rich background and essence. Despite the apparent diversity of elements, Lacerna deftly intertwines them, crafting a harmonious and evocative sonic landscape that dances through scenes, guiding emotions with subtlety and depth.

This pro-bono project is a call to action, a plea for support to ensure that all see and hear this statement of empowerment and inclusivity.
